The truth is that these prophecies are vague and relate to the mayans own calendar year which ends on the equinox each year, the importance of 2012 lies in the fact it is the end of the "Katun" a cyclic period in the mayan history, the alarm is created by western mis-interpretation of what the codex says, any catastrophe about to befall earth would in effect have started years ago in order for the full apocalypse to happen in 2012, true enough we are experiencing global changes in the weather patterns and temperature on earth but this is normal and in keeping with patterns throughout the earth's history, there are evidences of such catastrophic events happening in the past, one such event brought about the demise of the Dinosaurs and didn't happen one day but were a final eruption of events over thousands and possibly millions of years, whether we have reached such a destiny is debatable but unlikely, there would have to be an enormous shift of the earth's axis combined with effects of other influences such as gravitational pull from other planets or collision with an asteroid and again these outcomes are unlikely any time soon, the media and doom-mongers are revelling in the hysteria, remember the YK2 furore, nothing happened and I'm confident nothing will happen in 2012.
Fox news was paid to tell the lie about the year 2012 and they are creating false news about doomsday.
i don't believe in this news because it is said that every 3700 years the mayans celebrate the end of the calender. there are many rumours about this
