"The devastating magnitude 7.0 quake that ripped through Haiti on January 2010, reportedly killing thousands, did not catch everyone by surprise." There is zero scientific evidence that anything will happen, but there are numerous things that could easily threaten the human species in the year 2012, such as planet X hitting earth, volcano, pole reversal, solar flares drying earth, alien invasion, earthquakes, tsunamis, a geomagnetic reversal, asteroid strike or supernova. Or something more intimate, like a flu pandemic, or a nuclear war. And we already saw a glimpse of how swine flu affected the world. It may be just a beginning.
